Vincent van Warmerdam
Vincent van Warmerdam grew up in a theatre-cinema in IJmuiden, surrounded by film, theatre, and music. He rose to prominence as a guitarist with the legendary Hauser Orkater and later established himself as an acclaimed film composer.
His score for Abel earned him the Zilveren Lessenaar, followed by major awards including European Film Composer of the Year (De Noorderlingen), a Gouden Kalf (Kicks), a Buma Award (Rojo), and the EYE Best Music Award (USA) for the Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent.
Alongside his film work, he composed for theatre company Orkater, wrote music for Jiskefet — including the Ajax anthem “Mijn Club” — and performed in various bands, notably The Moondogs. During the pandemic, he released the instrumental guitar album Twango & More Cinematic Guitar Instrumentals.
Van Warmerdam is also the author of the novels De Plectrumfabriek and Boxgeur, both reflecting the world of musicians and makers.
