ICON OF THE DUTCH MUSIC SCENE ‘LO VAN GORP’ RELEASES FIRST SOLO ALBUM AFTER 25 YEARS
Lodewijk van Gorp -better known as ‘Lo’- is one of the best Dutch male singers. As a backing vocalist, the many collaborations Lo has done are endless; Al Jarreau, Paul Carrack, Chaka Khan, Jacob Collier, Roger Hodgson, Metropole Orkest, and Oleta Adams, to name a few.
In January 2021, Lo released the album ‘Sentimental Fools’ together with producer Phil Martin (Martin & Garp).Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Lo’s life as a musician came to a standstill. This did however allow him time to focus on composing music and lyrics. In the end, creativity always finds an outlet. The first result of all this labor is the single ‘Embrace you’, which he released with his group Dri3man in February 2021.
Lo’s debut album is titled, True Friends. He made this record together with producer Patrick Drabe in an uncompromising way, with the help of their many famous musical friends. The album has already been released exclusively in Japan in 2021 and will be released worldwide on June 3rd, 2022.“True Friends” is very popular in Japan amongst enthusiasts of Adult Oriented Rock (AOR) or YachtRock. The genre in which bands such as Steely Dan, Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Hall&Oates, Al Jarreau, and Venice excel. Strong compositions, rich harmonies, tastefully and diligently played by the best musicians: a sound that we recognize from LPs out of California during the late seventies and early eighties.
