Kalulu

Kalulu is an initiative of songwriter/producer Marinka Stam. The project is designed to find inspiring collaborations to contribute to an ever-changing sound with a unique Kalulu signature.

Kalulu’s first release ‘Hoax’ in 2016 explored the possibilities of electronics within a more traditional band setting. Working with some exceptional musicians as well as with producer Sam Jones, Joost Wesseling and Max Abel, it featured a diversity of musical styles and was well received by the Dutch press.

In 2019 Kalulu released “Coats”, a collaboration between Kalulu and producer Max Abel with a significant alternative EDM sound. The combination of the soulful and emotional voice of Marinka, together with the deep electronic beats and atmospheric soundscapes, gives the music its own unique sound.

I Bought You Flowers is the first single from Kalulu’s upcoming featuring EP that will remain nameless. It is to be released in fall 2022. The EP reveals the sound of the connection; a steady, bold, and yet melancholic indie-pop sound created at diverse places and with various producers. The five songs of the EP connect Kalulu’s dots and move between them.
